Integrative
I trained in all the main schools of psychotherapy, but draw mostly from attachment, humanistic, psychodynamic modalities.
I believe in my clients having agency over what works for them and I take a collaborative approach to therapy with each client. Whether we explore past experiences or stay with the present, I adapt my approach so each of my clients develop a better understanding of themselves, their experiences and their feelings.
This approach supports my clients to develop improved self esteem and autonomy, and through this, find healing and growth.

Relational
Our feelings and self-image are influenced and shaped by our experiences in relationships, both from early childhood and as we develop. Relational experiences create behavioural patterns and beliefs about ourselves and expectations of others.
However, these beliefs and patterns can become inflexible, or outdated, as we take them into new relationships and experiences as adults. They are also often hard to see for ourselves.
By expanding your understanding of these relational patterns and behaviours, I will support you to find greater acceptance of yourself. Or if you wish, to develop greater flexibility, confidence and resilience to challenge them, and make different, conscious choices which align better to the future you want.

Embodied
Emotional difficulties often show up in the body, such as how anxiety can cause shortness of breath, restlessness or panic attacks, and how depression can lead to exhaustion or numbness.

Working in an embodied way simply means I pay attention to how your body may be being impacted physically by your emotions and experiences.
I have experience working with complex physical and emotional trauma, and can help my clients to improve their capability to regulate difficult emotions (such as anger, distress or fear) which can feel uncomfortable or overwhelming.
Developing better resources for emotional regulation also allows my clients to work through their experiences more effectively; they become better equipped to bear the feelings as they arise and process them, rather than having to distract themselves or shut down.

In this way, I aim to restore my clients' overall emotional wellbeing, by facilitating greater stability and peace, as well as vitality and joy.
